  2. Challenge the Paradigm: Ask yourself if the lens you’re wearing is based on fact or fear. Are you holding yourself back because of past failures, or are you simply afraid of stepping into the unknown?
  3. Replace the Lens: Instead of viewing challenges as proof that you’re not capable, see them as opportunities for growth. Reframe negative self-talk into positive affirmations that reflect your real abilities.

Using the Ikigai Framework to Discover Your Worth

A powerful tool to help overcome self-doubt and build confidence is the Japanese concept of Ikigai. Ikigai refers to the intersection of four essential elements: what you love, what you’re good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. When all these elements align, you have found your “reason for being”—your Ikigai.

Steps to Find Your Ikigai:

  1. List Your Passions: What do you love doing? This could be hobbies, activities, or work that excites you.
  2. Identify Your Strengths: What are you good at? Reflect on the skills and talents you’ve developed over time.
  3. Look at Market Needs: What does the world need? Consider how your passions and strengths align with what people are looking for.
  4. Explore Income Potential: What can you be paid for? Determine how your skills and passions can translate into a sustainable business or career.


Example:

You may have a passion for helping others and a talent for solving complex problems. The world may need more therapists, and you could explore how your natural abilities align with starting a coaching or therapy practice. Once you find this alignment, self-doubt diminishes because you are working in a space that feels meaningful and aligned with who you are.


Turning Challenges into Opportunities

Entrepreneurs, professionals, and those stepping into new career paths often encounter self-doubt when faced with obstacles. However, it’s crucial to reframe challenges not as barriers but as opportunities for growth.
